Caesars Cup debuted at 2009 World Series of Poker Europe
The first-ever Caesars Cup debuted at 2009 World Series of Poker Europe.Caesars Cup is poker's answer to the Ryder Cup in golf. Players on two teams -- Europe versus The Americas -- are playing a series of heads-up matches to determine the winning team.
Team Europe is captained by 2007 WSOPE Main Event winner Annette Obrestad, from Norway. Team Americas is captained by four-time WSOP gold bracelet winner Daniel Negreanu, from Las Vegas (he is a native of Canada).
Team Europe is comprised of Annette Obrestad, Peter Eastgate, Dario Minieri, Bertrand Elky Grospellier, Ilari Sahamies, Patrik Antonius, Gus Hansen, and John Harvey, Betfair Qualifier.
Caesars Cup began at 1/pm on Friday, the 25th September at the Empire Casino in London. Play is expected to last until Friday evening, when one team wins four match victories and wins poker's ultimate bragging rights.
