Johnson "John" Juanda, born in Medan, Indonesia on July 8th, 1971, is an American professional poker player living in Los Angeles, California. He was born and raised in Indonesia but is ethnically Chinese. John arrived in the United States in 1990, and enrolled in Oklahoma State University, then later earned an MBA from Seattle University. John was a high school track star for the 200 meter sprints to 5000 meter races. He had a stint as a door to door salesman selling Bibles. In both 2001 and 2002 he was Cardplayer Magazine's tournament Player of the Year after he had won four World Series of Poker titles, and a World Poker Open Championship title. In November 2004 he won the inaugural Professional Poker Tour event at Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut.Professional Poker Player: John Juanda at WSOP

In November 2005 he earned roughly $500,000 in Monte Carlo, Monaco after winning the Monte Carlo Millions Consolation tournament, where he finished sixth in the Monte Carlo Millions Main Event, and then he finished second at "The FullTiltPoker.Net Invitational Live from Monte Carlo." In January 2006, Juanda defeated a world class field of poker professionals including Jeff Lisandro, Mike Sexton, Barry Greenstein, Tony Bloom, Tony G and Phil Ivey to win $732,901 first prize in the Crown Australian Poker Championship speed poker event. Juanda won the 2008 World Series of Poker Europe £10,000 No Limit Hold'em Main Event, earning £868,800 ($1,580,096). Then, not more than a week later, he finished runner-up to Jason Mercier at the European Poker Tour's London £1 Million Showdown, a non-title no limit hold'em event also known as the £20,000 High Roller event, earning £327,000 ($598,770).

 
Eventhough John Juanda has made six World Poker Tour final tables, he didn't win any of those events. He has howver finished 2nd (Bellagio Season 1), 3rd (WPT Invitational Season 2), 4th (Mirage Season 3), 5th (twice; Aruba Season 3 & Niagara Falls Season 5), and 6th (Bellagio Season 3). Equally impressive, he also finished 7th (PartyPoker Cruise Season 2) and 8th (Legends Season 5). To date (May 2009), his total live tournament winnings exceed $9,300,000, and his 45 cashes at the WSOP have been good for $3,195,087 of his live tournament winnings. John Juanda is a member of "Team Full Tilt" at Full Tilt Poker.
