Annie Duke: Professional Poker Player at the
World Series Of Poker Champion September 2004
Annie Duke won $2 million in the World Series of Poker Tournament of Champions ,September 2004, beating Phil Hellmuth, outright, and several other respected poker professionals. She was the only woman to compete in the invitation-only tournament "No-Limit Texas Hold'Em Winner-Take-All" founded by Harrah's Entertainment and ESPN, and she holds two World Series of Poker bracelets.
Annie Duke was born in Concord , New Hampshire ; and started to play poker at the age of 22, leaving the University of Pennsylvania . Her teacher was, in fact, her very own brother and professional poker player, Howard Lederer. Her most respected professional poker players are her brother, of course, along with Jennifer Harman, Eric Seidel, and Ted Forrest.
She currently
resides in Las Vegas where she plays in various high-limit
tournaments, and cash games. She also writes many poker
articles, and is consultant to UltimateBet, working
hard to promote their site.
Annie Duke is said
to be the top woman professional poker player in the world. She is
also the only woman to win two major tournaments in
one year's time, clearly demonstrating that poker is
not just a man's game anymore.
